Surfside Boracay Resort and Spa sits directly on the sand at Angol Point, the far southern end of White Beach in Station 3 — about 1.8 kilometres from Station 2 and 2.8 from Station 1, which is to say comfortably away from the busiest part of the island. It opened in 1998, was renovated in 2010, and remains small: around fourteen air-conditioned rooms across two floors, rated three stars. The Japanese influence runs through the place, from the names onward. The two things people come back for are the spa and the coffee shop. Yasuragi Spa is a full-service operation — relaxation massage, facials, a dry sauna and a jacuzzi hot tub — and the Nagisa coffee shop sits right on the beachfront serving a mix of Japanese, wider Asian and Western food. Breakfast is served there daily from 6:30am to 10:00am, though it is charged separately rather than bundled into the room rate. There is a bar, and loungers with shade umbrellas laid out on the white sand in front of the resort. Rooms range from the compact 17-square-metre Economy Twins on the ground floor up to a 47-square-metre Junior Suite with a sea view, with garden-view Standard, Superior and Double rooms in between and a 30-square-metre Quadruple for families or groups. All are air-conditioned, with a plasma TV and cable, complimentary WiFi, a minibar, an in-room safe, a telephone, a hair dryer and an en suite bathroom with a hot and cold shower. Housekeeping is daily. The front desk is staffed around the clock, and there is room service, luggage storage, concierge assistance and bicycle rental; the resort also arranges airport transfers, island tours, kayaking and diving. Check-in is 2:00pm and check-out 11:00am.
